WJ Group's Patent Applications Are Approved For Timber Chassis
In a huge milestone for WJ Group, we have now successfully received our approved patent documents for our timber chassis. Throughout the course of over a year, we have been in the process of filing for a patent on our timber chassis design for caravans and lodges. The chassis, patent application No. GB202307097A·2023-05-12 has now been approved and is available to view online. Over the past three years, our technical team within the business have worked hard to push the development of the chassis to produce a product that meets the demands of safely transporting a static caravan while also offering manufacturers a chassis made from sustainable materials. With sustainability at the heart of the product the carbon emission reductions vs a steel counterpart are huge. Averaging around 1700kgCo2e for the production of a steel chassis compared to -42kgCo2e of our patented timber chassis (data includes the storage of carbon in the timber). The chassis developments continue into the back end of 2024, as we have developments such as live field trials and continuous materials testing and monitoring on Yorkshire’s East coast. We have begun the sale and distribution of the chassis throughout the UK with selected partners and have already had some early adopters. We plan to grow our network of chassis owners on a scalable level allowing us to see specifically which units are being used on the chassis and how these units perform. As we’re constantly trying cover all areas from a testing front, we're still looking for partners to continue our testing work with us. This includes building a range of varied size units on our chassis, siting the chassis, transportation of the chassis and much more. If you'd like to be part of our product development and to be a pioneer of change in the industry, we'd love to hear from you.
